Rhus aromatica is a dense, low growing shrub, which spreads by using root suckers. Grows up to 3 feet high and 10 feet wide. Tiny yellow flowers appear in the spring, and clusters of hairy red berries appear late summer, and persist into the winter. Green leaves turn shades of orange, red and purple in the fall. The leaves and twigs are very fragrant. Best used for naturalistic landscapes, stabilizing embankments and woodland edges.
