Strong lettuce flavour. Pick the abundant foliage when young. Lettuce Red Cos Deep burgundy red, strong upright waxy thick leaf. Cut when young as a baby leaf. Lettuce Red Salad Bowl Red version of Salad Bowl. Adds colour to salads. Non hearting type, pick the abundant foliage when young. Salad Rocket Rocket leaves add an unique mild peppery taste to salads. Can be used on its own or mixed with other salad leaves. Sow April to August, cut when 7.5-10cm (3-4’’) high and allow to regrow. Flowers are edible. Sowing instructions – Babyleaf production Sow thinly into containers of damp multipurpose or seed compost and lightly cover seeds with sieved compost. Keep the compost damp but not wet. Seedlings will appear within 3-10 days. Keep weed free and well-watered when established. In cooler weather water less frequently. Harvest the baby leaves when large enough to cut. Use scissors to snip off a few from each plant at 2.5cm (1in) from the base. Avoid damaging the central growing point of the plant and allow the remaining leaves to grow on. Feed with a general purpose feed after cutting to support new leaf growth.
