A good quality all round variety with dark red, solid hearts. Ideal for pickling. Cabbages will grow in most fertile soils. dig in compost or manure the previous autumn, add lime in the winter if the pH of the soil is below 6.8. Sow February to April Harvest July to September Sow 2cm (3/4″ deep. Plant 30-45cm (12-18″) apart. Space rows 40-60cm (16-24″) apart.
