Water well until established. Plant crowns 90-100cm apart. Remove all perennial weeds before planting. Waterlogged soils can lead to crowns rotting off. If establishment from crowns has been a problem in the past try growing in a container and planting out in the spring once roots have established. Rhubarb does not like to grow long term in containers Allow 100cm between plants. After Care Avoid picking in the first year to allow good establishment. Mulch each autumn with well rotted organic material, avoid covering the crown as this can cause rotting. Remove flowering spikes as they appear. Only force a plant once in every 3 or 4 years. Keep weeds to a minimum.
